The Botanist is a gin of layered complexity. A progressive exploration of the botanical heritage of the isle of Islay. 22 hand-foraged local botanicals delicately augment nine berries, barks, eeds and peels during an achingly slow distillation. This first and only Islay dry gin is a rare expression of the heart and soul of their remote Scottish island home. An exciting and unusual gin from Islay whisky distillery Bruichladdich, The Botanist is made in a Lomond still christened Ugly Betty and contains no fewer than 31 botanicals, of which 22 are native to the Southern Hebridean island itself. The latter include the likes of mugwort, meadowsweet and the enigmatic Lady's Bedstraw flowers, and the resultant dry gin is described, perhaps unsurprisingly, as 'floral'.
