Description

Wine Spectator 94 points - A dark version, featuring intense flavors of blackberry, black cherry, spice and tar up against a wall of tannins. All the elements are here, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Terrific length. Best from 2023 through 2040. 25,000 cases made. -BS.October/2018 Vinous 90 points - The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a bold, intense wine. Sweet tobacco, menthol, licorice, new oak, orange peel and spice overtones add aromatic complexity to this decidedly racy, ripe Chianti Classico. Pliant and inviting, with terrific structure, the 2015 will drink well with minimal cellaring. There is a good bit of depth and plenty of power, as well as a touch of wildness to the 2015..February/2019 James Suckling 95 points - Aromas of blackberries, wet earth, lavender and blueberries. Full-bodied, deep and layered with bright acidity and a bacon-fat, mushroom, smoked-meat and fruit aftertaste. Soft tannins, too. A unique wine. Drink now or hold..September/2018 This wine comes from the farms of Rocca delle Macie situated in the most prestigious area of Chianti Classico in the commune of Castellina in Chianti. After careful selection, the grapes from Rocca delle Macie estates are vinified in the traditional method of Chianti Classico. Once the fermentation is complete, the wine is matured in oak barrels for at least 2 years then bottled. It remains in the bottle for a minimum of 3 months to mature before being released. Grape Varieties - 90% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot Uncork at least an hour beforehand, then decant shortly before serving. Serve at a temperature of 64°-68°F. This wine is particularly well suited to dishes of red meat, roasts and game.
