Marking the 20th edition of Heaven Hill's Parker's Heritage Collection, this 14-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon was distilled between October 2011 and January 2012 using rye backset during fermentation, a technique championed by namesake Parker Beam that layers in extra spice and depth. The nose is heavy with baking and savory spice alongside tangerine, fresh honey, and sweet tea, opening on the palate to golden syrup, citrus, mixed florals, and vanilla custard before building into cinnamon-forward spice, a gritty barrel char backbone, and a flash of red pepper heat. The finish is long and assertive, moving from black tea into green tea with tobacco notes growing more forceful the longer it sits in the glass. Drawn from barrels aged on the upper floors of four Heaven Hill rickhouses, it's bottled uncut and non-chill filtered at a robust 118 proof (59% ABV). Only 100 barrels were selected for this release, making it one of the most limited Parker's Heritage editions to date. A portion of proceeds supports the ALS Association, continuing the collection's tradition of honoring Parker Beam's legacy. A serious, barrel-proof pour best reserved for sipping neat.
