Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes from the Reserve blocks of the family's Oakville Estate, acquired back in 1981, where certain Cabernet lots along the western edge showed unique characteristics deserving their own bottling. The wine boasts a deep, pure ruby color with enticing aromas of boysenberry and blueberry pie, complemented by notes of pastry cream, toast, and menthol. On the palate, supple, smooth tannins carry flavors of blueberry and blackberry into chocolate-covered cherries, closing on a fruit-driven finish. This is Groth's flagship expression of Oakville terroir, built from fruit the winery considered too distinctive to blend into their standard bottling. It pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, hard cheeses, or dark chocolate.
