El Dorado 5 Year Old opens with a delightfully fruity and nutty bouquet that turns vanilla-like and warmly spiced, reminiscent of winter holiday baking. The palate is long and honeyed, finishing plump and properly sweet without any acidic edge or harsh spirit heat. It's produced by Demerara Distillers in Guyana, the last remaining distillery in the country, which preserves nine original stills and over twenty traditional rum styles.
