Nose & Taste Notes

The wine is carefully handcrafted from the Montelena estate, as well as prime neighboring vineyards in the northern end of Napa Valley, specifically in Calistoga and its surrounding areas near the Napa River. These sites were chosen for their unique alluvium soil profile, resulting in a complex and concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with an earthy undertone. The addition of Merlot adds a softness to the wine, along with a shorter aging process compared to the estate Cabernet, resulting in a wine that is released earlier. With a deep ruby color and a blend of berry, cedar, licorice, and classic Cabernet aromas, this wine is popular among wine connoisseurs. Notes of pomegranate, plum, and dried blackberry combine with hints of oak, potpourri, and black pepper. The bright fruit and tannins are balanced by refreshing notes of mint and graphite, leading to a finish accented by earthy tones.
