Nose & Taste Notes
The rum is first aged in American oak barrels for five to eight years, and then undergoes a second aging for two to four years in used sherry barrels. Similar to Scotch, the used sherry barrels add unique character to this rum. The light enhances its dark amber hues and clean color, while the nose is complex with spiced notes, chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, and dried fruits. On the palate, it is smooth, full-bodied, and has a finish with toffee, wood, and licorice flavors. The aftertaste is slightly sweet and long-lasting, with a perfect and sublime taste. Distilled in the Dominican Republic since 1888, Brugal 1888 is not your average rum - it's a rum made for Scotch drinkers. It boasts a double aging process for a truly distinct flavor.
